About Me

Published by kimmiecollas

This is a work in progress, so there’s no telling when I may update it to reflect new interests, but for now, here we go.

I spend a lot of time on the computer, especially on Second Life (if you’re an SL fan, look me up sometime - kimmie Collas is my SL identity) and doing research on the web (my Favorites list has so much stuff in it, it’s practically unmanageable.) I’m a bit of a nut, and have very strong opinions on a lot of stuff, but as long as you don’t try to force me to agree with you, we’ll get along fine. I enjoy discussions, and if you can prove to me that I’m wrong about something, I’ll change my opinion, but don’t expect me to “take it on faith.” If it doesn’t make sense to me, I’m not gonna believe it.

In r/l having mental health issues can keep you from getting jobs, so that’s why I’m “going incognito” on this particular blog. It’s hard enough to find work these days without companies being able to go online and find reasons not to hire you, especially now that they don’t want to hire folks who might actually USE the health insurance they provide. I know, it’s illegal to discriminate against people with disabilities, but how hard is it for Human Resources to find a legitimate excuse? With so many applicants for every position, there’s always gonna be someone who has more education, or more related experience, or fewer job changes, or SOMETHING they can point to that has nothing to do with discrimination.

Can you tell I’m a bit of a cynic? I want to believe in people, to believe that they’ll do the right thing, but experience has taught me otherwise. I’ve been around the block a few times, and I’ve seen too much to trust strangers not to let their prejudices make their decisions before they have the facts.
