Laughter - The Best Medicine?
How many times have you heard the quote, “laughter is the best medicine?” Is it really? Can laughter really make you feel better, cure diseases, stop your pain? What’s your experience with laughter? Has it helped you to feel better?
I’ve heard stories about people curing cancer with laughter, reducing their chances of heart attacks, reducing stress, even that it’s good for diabetics (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517295,00.html), but is it really?
In my personal experience, laughter helps, a lot . . . It makes me feel better, it reduces my pain levels, I feel happier and more hopeful, and more motivated to do the things I need to do to manage my health problems. It’s free, it’s easy, and very accessible; there are no side effects, no drug interactions, and no dangers associated with laughter; and anyone can use it. There are no contraindications, there’s not a single disease that will be made worse by laughter, and it’s completely safe. How many other treatments/therapies can make the same claim? Not one that I can think of.
Don’t believe me? Google it for yourself - just type in the word laughter and pick from the list of possible searches Google gives you. Even better, try it and see what happens. Watch a comedy on tv, rent a funny movie, go to YouTube and watch videos of your favorite comedians, read a book, go to a play, even search the internet for jokes. I promise it will make you feel better, and if you share your experiment with someone you love, they will feel better too.
Here’s a little bit of a start for you, enjoy :

Laughter is definitely the best medicine for the soul
“my motto” is to make people laugh whenever I can.
